Summery
Wind
Date of composition: August 2001, Bethesda
Notes: This song, like Superimpose, is
played in an
E tuning, for people marginally interested in guitar information.
I don't pretend to actually know what I'm playing when I'm playing
the guitar, but I do like mixing around with tunings sometimes.
Further notes to that end: Your Face is in drop D while
Mixtape is in full D-tuning. I like tuning to E, though:
slightly dissonant and seems to make things sound more melancholy.
Breathe
Summery wind.
Hurry my dear
before new season begins.
Take a step outside,
Feel the warm summer sun,
Let it wash all over you,
Let yourself come undone.
See
all those familiar things that you've seen so many
times
Put on a pair of brand new eyes,
and notice all those things you've overlooked before
I'm beginning to see there's so much more.
So many surprises.
Hear
Summery sound.
The hum of nighttime and your voice
echoes all around.
Don't want to say goodbye
So I won't say goodbye.
Instead I'll say so long
to these summer days with you,
they're almost gone.
So throw caution to that summer wind,
Feel a new season begin.
